SJAL Mission Statement

The SJAL is dedicated to the welfare of companion animals in San Juan County, New Mexico. Our goals include
-improving companion animal health by providing low cost vaccinations
-reduction of unwanted pets through public education and increased spay/neuter
-elimination of euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets through decreased unwanted births and increased successful adoptions

Goal timeline
1 yr (2003) - Redefine our relationship with local vets
Increase membership drive
Spay/neuter drive/week for the animals
2-3 yr - Develop spay/neuter plan for FMT shelter
Get funding for program
Begin political drive for shelter improvements
5 yr - 100% spay/neuter from FMT shelter
develop a program to reduce pet surrender and increase successful adoption rates
10 yr - No euthanasia of healthy animals at FMT shelter
